Mission Statement: To provide a safe haven for senior and special needs equines.

Vision: A world where every senior horse is in a loving home.

Sarah Shipman is the “face” of the rescue:

"Rescue has always been a deep passion of mine and for the past 20 years I have been involved in one way or another with equine and small animal rescue. Past jobs include animal control officer, dog trainer, and dog groomer. Now a days you will not find me working full-time in the animal industry…I work full time in the medical coding world. This career allows me to work mainly from home. I am beyond thankful to have landed in a career that allows me to work from home so I can keep a close eye on the rescues. Plus, I kind of like spending my entire day with my dogs. Running a 501c3 non-profit equine rescue has always been a dream of mine, one I never really thought would happen, but here we are. Honestly, it is absolutely one of the hardest volunteer jobs I have ever done. Heck, one of the hardest things in general I have ever done. I thought I was busy when I went to school and worked full time. Ha! I had no idea what was coming, lol. But it is also the most rewarding job I have ever done. To see these equines happy is what matters most to me. The happy and sad times are all worth it to me, knowing we made a difference in that equine’s life."

Sarah Kenyon is often “behind the scenes”:

"I’ve been involved in the animal world since I was a child. My mom and I “adopted” a whale. This started my rescue life. I worked at the animal shelter for almost 20 years as an Animal Control Officer. The horrible things I’ve seen – the good, the bad and the very ugly – have led me to be a voice for all animals. Due to no fault of my own, I stepped out of the daily work with animals and went to more volunteer work. Ten years went by before I took the plunge and got into the veterinary world. My wife Sarah introduced me to horses, and the rest is history. She and I have always dreamed of running an animal rescue and saw a huge need for that in Yellowstone county. I still see the good, the bad and the very ugly, but now I can turn the horrible and horrific around for those we are able to help and watch the life come back into their eyes and prove to them all humans aren’t violent and cruel."

Susan Malinowski

Susan started volunteering with us last year. Since that time she has been instrumental in helping grow the rescue. Susan is an animal lover at heart and always steps up to the plate when it comes time to help an animal in need. In her spare time, she operates her own skin care business in town.

Wendy (Advisor)

Wendy prides herself in being raised in Billings. In addition to practicing law, Wendy is a devoted animal rescuer. Besides helping out at Over the Hill, she regularly volunteers with Wyoming Basset Hound Rescue. When she is not practicing law or saving animals, she can be spotted riding her horse, or going on very slow walks with her husband, baby and their incredibly old basset hound.
